The Junior Sailing Program at CYC is designed to teach participants how to sail by following the national CanSail levels. It is a two-week program where campers sail everyday, weather permitting. Participants will sail either with others in 420 sailboats, or alone or in pairs in Opti sailboats. The program can accommodate all levels of experience, and includes unique ‘Friday Fun Day’ events where participants sail to exciting locations once a week.
What Junior Sailing Course should my child be registered in?
If your child is 5-7 years old, he/she should register in Wet Feet.
If your child is 8+ and is new to sailing, he/she should register in Learn To Sail CANSail Levels 1 and 2.
If your child is 8+ and has taken sailing lessons before, but you are unsure of the CANSail Level he/she has completed, please go to Checklick at checklick.com. There you can search your child’s name and see what level he/she has completed.

This Clinic, also known as the 1 & 2 Instructor Course, is for those instructors who wish to teach sailors at the CANSail 1 & 2 levels. It includes land and water based sessions to cover both technical and practical coaching skills. This clinic is the final step to becoming a trained CANSail 1 & 2 instructor, meaning all prerequisites must be completed prior to attending. These prerequisites are: CANSail 4 student level, Fundamental Course, Intermediate/Standard First aid, Safe Sport Training, Making Ethical Decision Module, Pleasure Craft Operators Card and Police Check ( if older than 17 ).
Coach Boat safety training remains valid for 5 years. It covers the basics of safe coach boat operating including: equipment, maneuvering, setting marks and rescues,
